Denmark 1625-RFP 1/2 krone

from the Stack's Bowers 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72321

This specimen was lot 72321 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $132. The catalog description^[1] noted, "DENMARK. 1/2 Krone, 1625. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. PCGS F-12 Gold Shield. Rather well worn and circulated, but nevertheless a charming minor with an expressive portrait of the king." This type was struck 1624-25 and is very rare in better grade than that shown here. The mintmark is the club or clover after the date.
