Revision as of 12:20, 4 March 2025 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - "was struck 1942-2010 for use in jewelry" to "was struck 1942-2021 for use in jewelry")
This specimen was lot 3741 in Sincona sale 83 (Zurich, May 2023), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$569 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY, Republik, seit 1923. 100 Piaster 1966, Ankara. Kemal Atatürk. Luxus-Prägung. Fast FDC (Monnaie de luxe, About uncirculated)." This monnaie de luxe was struck 1942-2021 for use in jewelry. It is wider and thinner than the hundred kurush struck for bullion. It is not known circulated. While this coin has an exalted value in the SCWC, it normally trades for its bullion value, as here.
Recorded mintage: 190,000.
Specification: 7.02 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 7.00 g.
