This type was struck 1807-08 in France with sixteen different date-mintmark combinations, of which the 1808-A is the most common. In fact, this date is the highest mintage issue between the introduction of the denomination in 1804 and 1864.

Recorded mintage: 6,605,734.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, decorated edge, designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier.
