Turkey 1994 1000 lira
This denomination was struck with this design 1990-94. All dates are more or less worthless. The circulating life was brief, as inflation devoured its value. In 1970, US$1 = 11.3 lira; in 1990, US$1 = 2,500 lira; in 1995, US$1 = 43,000 lira; in 2005, US$1 = 1,350,000 lira. In that year, the new lira was introduced, worth one million old lira. Normally, a new currency is accompanied by budget reforms or debt rescheduling so that the new unit can become established; however, this did not occur in Turkey.
