Luzern 1725 1/8 gulden KM-56
This specimen was lot 3351 in Sincona sale 91 (Zurich, May 2024), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$859 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Luzern, Achtelgulden (5 Schilling) 1725, Luzern. Variante mit Wertzahl auf Revers. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, one gulden (5 schilling) of 1725, Luzern mint, variety with the date on the reverse. Rare, Good very fine.)"
This denomination was struck in 1725 in two styles: KM 56 (date on reverse, shown here) or KM 57 (date on obverse). The KM 57 also has a beade circle around the monogram.
