Australia 1984 50 cents

The specimen shown is from a type struck for Australia 1969-84. This type was struck in large numbers and no dates are rare altho the 1972 and 1973 are scarce. The succeeding type (KM 83) used the Maklouf bust of the queen 1985-98. This denomination had no equivalent in the predecimal system as the crown did not circulate in Australia.

Recorded mintage: 26,281,000 plus 61,000 proofs.

Specification: 15.55 g, copper-nickel, 31.65 mm diameter.
