The specimen shown is from a type struck for Australia 1966-84. This type was struck in large numbers and no dates are rare altho the 1972 is somewhat scarce. The succeeding type (KM 81) used the Maklouf bust of the queen 1985-98. This denomination superseded the old shilling.
Recorded mintage: 25,728,000 plus 61,000 proofs.
Specification: 5.65 g, copper-nickel, 23.6 mm diameter.
