This specimen was lot 23822 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I gold 6400 Reis 1763/2-R, AU50 NGC. An attractive circulated example and more than sufficient as a type representative. From The RLM Collection, Part II." This type was struck 1751-77 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil.
Recorded mintage: 418,000.
