This specimen was lot 41226 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Gelderland - Batenburg. 1/2 Daalder, ND (1556-73). Wilhelm von Bronkhorst. PCGS FINE-15 Gold Shield. Obverse: Double-headed eagle with coat of arms of Bronkhorst-Batenburg; Reverse: Lion facing left. A seldom encountered type, this well-worn example exhibits a crude uneven strike as is typical from this series displaying attractive rich gray patina with minor earthen deposits amongst the devices. This wholly original looking survivor is pleasing to the eye and is sure to excite many collectors seeking this tough to locate denomination." The lords of Bronkhorst were barons of Batenburg in Gelderland and from there began issuing daalders in the 1550's. Two dozen types are noted in Davenport (not including minors) before minting ceased about 1579.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Delm-540.
