Netherlands 1929 gulden

from the Enschede Collection

This type, struck 1922-31 and 1938-40, features the "mature bust" of queen Wilhelmina. This bust was used on all the silver and gold denominations from the ten cents to the ten gulden. This type is reduced in fineness from the "mantled bust" type (KM 148), which was .945 fine silver. The Netherlands managed to stay neutral in World War One but was not so lucky in World War Two.

Recorded mintage: 32,350,000 (a common date).

Specification: 10 g, .720 fine silver, 28 mm diameter, lettered edge.
