Iran AH 1295 2 toman
This specimen was lot 1011 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 28,000 CHF (about US$37,705 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Nasir al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 AH (1848-1896). 2 Tomans 1295 AH (1878 AD), Tehran Mint. Bust type. Mous al-Reza. Extremely rare, probably less than five pieces known. NGC MS60. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 39. From the Leeds collection, auction Baldwin's Dubai, March 2000, lot 559. Finest certified by NGC"
With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran. One thousand dinars made a kran and ten kran made a toman. This type is listed for AH 1295 only.
