This specimen was lot 554 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO, Mexico City, cob ½ real, 1645 P, extremely rare, ex-Hubbard. Off-center strike resulting in full date consisting of a clear 164 and rather skinny 5 (less certain), full oMP, •fleur• below monogram, nearly full cross, richly toned Fine+. Pedigreed to the Clyde Hubbard Collection, with his tag." This specimen is a silver cob half real struck at Mexico City. Specimens with clear dates are unusual to the point that many dates are unlisted in the SCWC. Cayón lists this rare type for 1622, 1635, 1643, 1650, 1653-58, 1661-62, 1667 while the SCWC mentions 1622, 1650, 1653-62. In 1728, cobs were debased from .931 to 0.917 fine silver.
