This specimen was lot 31789 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $223.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Gustaf III 1/6 Riksdaler 1788-OL, AU50 NGC. Deeply toned with no adjustment marks. Scarce date. Ex: 'Colonel' E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman/B.G. Johnson." This denomination was introduced in 1776 to replace the 16 öre (KM 513). It must have been a success, as this type was struck 1778-90 in large numbers and is common today.
Recorded mintage: 742,000.
Specification: 6.19 g, .691 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM 524.
