Zurich 1729 1/4 ducat Fr-488a
This specimen was lot 5325 in Sincona sale 80 (Zurich, October 2022), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,558 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton, Vierteldukat 1729, Zürich. Rare. About extremely fine." This scarce type was struck 1718-67 along with double (Fr-485a), half (Fr-487a) and single ducats (Fr-486a). In 1798, the canton of Zurich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
