Stephen Album sale 50, lot 634

This specimen was lot 634 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "DANISH INDIA: TRANQUEBAR: Christian IV, 1620-1648, lead kas, ND, DAN / NISB / ORG // KE / DA, unknown source of "KEDA ", without leaf to right of reverse legend, superb strike, XF, RRR, ex Solar Collection." The Danish fort at Tranquebar was sold to the British in 1845. This lead cash was struck in over four dozen varieties during the reign of Christian IV (died 1648). The reverse lettering is intended to read, "DANSBORG."
