This specimen was lot 46255 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. 2 Mark, 1964-G. Karlsruhe Mint. NGC MS-64. Max Planck." This specimen was offered again as lot 38463 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $45. This type, featuring physicist Max Planck, was struck 1957-71. This is a better date but not rare.
Recorded mintage: 3,044,000 plus 368 proofs.
