This specimen was lot 73841 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Federal Republic. 5 Mark, 1964-G. Karlsruhe Mint. NGC PROOF-66 Ultra Cameo. Mintage: about 600. A bright and attractive SCARCE Proof, with mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." This type was struck 1951 and 1956-74. This date was probably the last to actually circulate, so it is slightly scarce in choice condition. The proofs are rare.

Recorded mintage: 1,649,000 + about 600 proofs.

Specification: 11.2 g, 0.625 fine silver, 29 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-112.1; J-387.
