from Sedwick Treasure Auction 21, lot 1692

This specimen was lot 1692 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 21 (Winter Park, FL, May 2017), where it sold for $323.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lima, Peru, bust 4 reales, Ferdinand VII (large 'imaginary' bust), 1808JP, very rare. About Fine with deeply toned fields (good contrast), repaired hole at top, minor edge-bruise, rare type." This type is rare compared to the prior type of Charles IV, struck 1791-1808. It was replaced 1809-11 by KM 105.2, with a smaller imaginary bust of Ferdinand.
