Russia 1843-SP AC 20 kopeks
This specimen was lot 363 in Sincona sale 84 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 30,000 CHF (about US$40,399 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 20 Kopecks 1843, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB ACh. Proof. Excessively rare. 15 roubles according to Petrov. 30 roubles according to Ilyin. NGC PF65. Beautiful condition with magnificent patina. From the Soedermann Collection, auction SINCONA 24, Zurich, October 2015, lot 679 (price realized: CHF 48,000). From the "Russian Coins of 19th and 20th Century. Collection of Duplicates from Russian Museums", auction Adolph Hess 204, Lucerne, February 1931, lot 1037."
This type was struck 1832-58 but this is a scarce date, especially in proof. This example realized eighty times the catalog value.
