Chile 1857 1/2 decimo
The first specimen was lot 1371 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $242. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE, Republic. 1818-present. AR 1/2 Decimo. Santiago mint. Dated 1857 So. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 61. Very light blue-gray patina. Nice UNC. Nice for type." Chile converted to decimal coinage in the 1850's and these half and one decimos were part of the program. This half decimo was struck 1851-59 and is common in circulated condition.
