The first specimen was lot 22115 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $159. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 1/2 Decimo, 1856-SO. NGC MS-63." The SCWC mentions an 1856/5 overdate and awards it a lower price than the regular date. The type was struck 1851-59 and is not rare.
Recorded mintage: 767,000.
Specification: 1.25 g, 0.900 fine silver, .036 troy oz ASW.
