This specimen was lot 72179 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "MAURITIUS. 2 Cents, 1917. London Mint. PCGS MS-63 Red Brown Gold Shield. An attractive, lustrous coin with a bright, almost golden hue in the fields." This type was struck 1911-12, 1917, 1920-24 in modest numbers. It accompanied a bronze five cents and cent. Silver quarter, half and one rupees were struck for George V but not until 1934.
