Sincona sale 102, lot 5587

This specimen was lot 5587 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$603 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Zug. Stadt und Kanton. Dicken 1618, Zug. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zug, dicken of 1618, Zug mint. About Extremely Fine.)"

This type was struck 1609-22. St. Oswald, a British king who converted the Northumbrians, is featured on the obverse. The reverse motto, "CVM·HIS·QVI·OD[ERT]·PACE[M]· ERAM·PACI[FICVS]", translates to, "I remained peaceful to those who hated the peace." A dicken was twenty-four kreuzer or two-fifths gulden.

Specification: 9.1 g, silver, 30 mm diameter, this specimen 8.14 g.
