This specimen was lot 925 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,033 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"HENNEBERG, GRAFSCHAFT Gemeinschaftlich sächsischer Anteil. Reichstaler 1702, Ilmenau. Ausbeute der Gruben in Ilmenau. Feine Patina, sehr schön. (Germany, county of Henneberg, joint Saxon rule, thaler of 1701, for the mines in Ilmenau. Toned, very fine.)"

The counts of Henneberg fell extinct in 1580, after which the county was co-ruled by various Saxon dukes. In this period, the rulers were Saxe-Gotha and Saxe-Weimar. This type is noted for 1700-02; the 1700 issue is catalogued as Dav-7491. This is the only thaler from this locale for the eighteenth century.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rather scarce.
