This specimen was lot 876 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,450 (about US$1,954 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HENNEBERG, GRAFSCHAFT. Gemeinschaftlich sächsischer Anteil. Reichstaler 1699, Ilmenau. Ausbeute der Gruben in Ilmenau. Heus (1981), Nr. 139; Slg. Nussmann (Auktion Künker 254) 3481. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Slg. Bernhard Terletzki. (Germany, county of Henneberg, under joint Saxon rule, mining thaler of 1699, Ilmenau mint. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

The counts of Henneberg fell extinct in 1580, after which the county was co-ruled by various Saxon dukes. In this period, the rulers were Saxe-Gotha and Saxe-Weimar.

Recorded mintage: unknown but few.
