This specimen was lot 1366 in Jean Elsen sale 137 (Brussels, June 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSIE, Elisabeth (1741-1761), AR polupoltinnik, 1748MMA, Moscou. D/ B. de la tsarine à d. R/ Aigle impériale couronnée. Fine brisure du coin au droit. Rare dans cet état de conservation. Superbe. (empire of Russia, Elizabeth, 1741-61, silver polupoltinnik of 1748, Moscow mint. Obverse: bust of the empress to right; reverse: crowned imperial eagle. Fine die break on the obverse, rare in this condition, Extremely Fine.)"
During Elizabeth's reign, quarter rubles were minted only at Moscow. This type of 1743-51 is noted as fairly common. With modifications (KM C17a and C17b), it was struck until 1758.
Recorded mintage: 600,000.
