Stack's Bowers 2020 ANA sale, lot 21195

This specimen was lot 21195 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Anhalt-Bernburg. Taler, 1796-HS. Friedrich Albrecht. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. The only graded example of the date in the PCGS census, this stunning near Gem radiates with original mint luster and offers an appealing gunmetal gray nature accentuated by some deeper hints of toning throughout." This type was struck 1795-96.
