This specimen was lot 10355 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $276. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony-Albertine. Taler, 1613. NGC EF-45. Johann Georg I & August (1611-15). Dark toned." Saxony, one of the larger divisions of Germany and blessed with numerous silver mines, issued large numbers of thalers. This type was issued 1611-16 and is common. The swan mintmark is to the left of August's shoulder on the reverse.
