This specimen was lot 1787 in Goldberg Sale 146 (Los Angeles, July 2025), where it sold for $312. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Poland: Teschen. 3 Groszy, 1597. Adam Waclaw, 1579-1617. Obverse: Bust right. Reverse: Small Silesian eagle divides date III above; 5-line inscription below; mintmaster's symbol at end of inscription. None graded at PCGS. Lightly toned. PCGS graded Extremely Fine Details (Scratch). The Augustana Collection." The duchy of Teschen was in upper (southern) Silesia; the last ruler was Elisabeth Lucretia, who died in 1653. It was then part of the empire but is now in Poland, which calls the town Cieszyn. This Dreigröscher was struck 1591-92 and 1596-97. The obverse legend reads, "ADA·W·D·G·DVX·TES·&·M·GLO". Teschen was not included when Frederick the Great seized the rest of Silesia from Maria Theresia in 1743.
