This specimen was lot 21145 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $16,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "MADEIRA ISLANDS. 10 Reis, 1850. PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder. Unpriced and listed as UNIQUE in both KM and Gomes. Needle sharp strike with attractive chocolate brown surfaces." This rather scarce type was also issued in 1842 and 1852 along with a twenty réis.
