Künker sale 354, lot 6328

This specimen was lot 6328 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €320 (about US$445 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSSILBERMÜNZEN, SACHSEN, Friedrich August III. 1904-1918. 2 Mark 1906. Prachtexemplar. Herrliche Patina, fast Stempelglanz. (Germany, kingdom of Saxony, Frederick August III, 1904-18, two mark of 1906. Choice example, superb patina, about uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1905-08, 1911-14 and is common in lightly circulated condition. The Dresden mint was moved to Muldenhutten in 1887. The Muldenhutten mint, after striking coins for the Saxon kings, later minted for the Weimar republic, the Nazis and the Communists before closing in 1953.

Recorded mintage: 558,750.

Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, 28 mm diameter.
