This specimen was lot 23357 in Heritage sale 3004 (New York, January 2009), where it sold for $253. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Carl XI of Sweden 4 Ore 1674 Rundstuck, choice toned VF-XF, very scarce Swedish possession issue." This is the final date of a type struck beginning in 1664. Four öre was half a mark; six marks was a riksdaler and ten marks was (roughly) a ducat in gold. Fiscal manipulations were frequent in Sweden during this period so equivalents are approximate. Peter the Great greatly desired possession of Estonia and occupied it in 1710; the Swedes formally ceded it to him in 1721. It remained Russian until after World War One.
