This specimen was lot 21992 in Heritage sale 3002 (Long Beach, September 2008), where it sold for $1,150. The catalog description noted, "Republic gold 50 Soles 1968 Inca, MS62 PCGS, a prooflike example with faint hairlines. Very scarce date with a mintage of 300." This type, struck to the standard of a United States $20 gold piece, was struck 1930-31 and 1967-69. A later type struck 1950-70 weighed only 23.40 grams.

Specification: 33.43 g, 0.900 fine gold, .967 troy oz AGW.
