This specimen was lot 31238 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $616.88. The catalog description[1] noted, "Groningen & Ommeland. Provincial gold 7 Gulden 1761 AU58 NGC. Most attractive in this borderline Mint-State preservation presenting ambered surfaces that gleam with original bloom and only minimal friction that affects the higher points. Beautifully illustrated and from a seldom encountered Dutch province." The province of Groningen issued few coins in the 18th century. Duit, stuiver, seven and 14 gulden were issued. This type, called a "half gold rider", was struck in Gelderland under contract.
