This specimen was lot 29674 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Louis XV gold Louis d'or à la croix du Saint-Esprit 1719-W MS63 NGC, Lille mint. Featuring the young laureate head of King Louis XV and the round arms of France centered within the cross of the Holy Spirit, this harvest-gold specimen presents well-struck devices, ample original mint bloom, and minor die striations which are typical to the type. An interesting piece, seldom encountered in this choice classification." Droulers[2] notes this type, called a louis d'or à la croix du Saint Esprit, was struck 1718-19 and replaced the louis d'or de Noailles, which was 12.23 grams.

Recorded mintage: 104,427.

Specification: 9.79 g, 0.917 fine gold, 24-25 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Norbert Roëttiers.

Catalog reference: Gadoury 336, Friedberg 453, KM 438.18, Dr/4 № 796, Dr/2 № 532.
