Sincona sale 47, lot 1972

This specimen was lot 1972 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 3,200 CHF (about US$3,840 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"POLEN, Stanislas August Poniatowski, 1764-1795. 8 Groschen 1785, Warschau. Äusserst seltene Erhaltung. Fast FDC. (kingdom of Poland, Stanislas August Poniatowski, 1764-95, eight groschen of 1785, Warsaw mint. Extremely rare condition, About uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1783-85 in the final years of the Polish kingdom.

Recorded mintage: 78,000.

Specification: 9.35 g, .626 fine silver, this specimen 9.39 g.
