This specimen was lot 1692 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €220 (about US$289 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PAPST PIUS IX., 1846-1878. Prägungen des Papstes Pius IX. Vor der Revolution von 1848 - Die Münzstätte Rom. 20 Baiocchi (Doppelter Giulio) AN III/1848, Rom. Stempelschneider Niccolò Cerbara. The first coinage reform in the Papal States was implemented in the early 1830's during the reign of Gregory XVI (1831-46). All the doppie, zecchini, guili, testoni, etc., were dropped in favor of a silver scudo divided into one hundred baiocchi. Gold one, 2½, five and ten scudi were minted at Rome and Bologna until 1865. This type was struck at Rome and Bologna 1848-56. This date is known with regnal years II and III.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 5.37 g, 0.900 fine silver, this specimen 5,40 g.
