Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale, lot 73026

This specimen was lot 73026 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Florin, 1933-(M). Melbourne Mint. George V. PCGS AU-53. An attractive KEY DATE example that offers some mint originality and only trace wear. No toning is present, though there is some evidence of handling in the fields. From the Hobart Collection." The type was issued 1911-36 with Melbourne being the sole producer after 1926. This Melbourne date is rare altho this example realized only 30% of catalog.

Recorded mintage: 488,000.

Specification: 11.31 g, 0.925 fine silver, 28.5 mm diameter.
