This specimen was lot 11384 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €145 (about US$151). The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Hesse-Kassel. Heller, 1736. Fredrik I. NGC VF Details--Environmental Damage. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Johannes Hammerich Collection (Copenhagen-1855) Lot # 4242." Frederick was originally a Hessian prince when he married Ulrika Eleonora and became king in 1720. He succeeded as landgrave of Hesse-Cassel in 1730 and was titular ruler thereof until his death; his brother William VIII served as his regent there and became landgrave himself in 1751. This type was struck 1730-43, along with a four and six heller, and is listed as inexpensive.
