Sincona sale 80, lot 2317

This specimen was lot 2317 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$420 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "FINLAND, Republik. 1 Markka 2001, Helsinki. Choice Proof. In original box with certificate." This NCLT was struck to commemorate the retirement of the Finnish markka; the reverse shows a stylized tree with roots. Finland was a founding member of the euro. Another markka (KM 106) was struck in copper-nickel and a third (KM 76) in bronze.

Recorded mintage: 55,000 proofs.

Specification: 8.64 g, 0.750 fine gold, this specimen 8.64 g.
