Sincona sale 50, lot 1165

This specimen was lot 1165 in Sincona sale 50 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 4,500 CHF (about US$5,428 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Garsten, Abtei. Roman Rauscher, 1642-1683. Taler 1679. Auf sein 50-jähriges Priesterjubiläum, gewidmet von der Stadt und der bergrechtlichen Gewerkschaft der Steyerer Eisenwerke. Sehr selten. Prachtvolle Erhaltung mit herrlicher Patina. Vorzüglich-FDC. Exemplar der Auktion Jacques Schulman 239, Amsterdam 1965, Nr. 2017. (Germany, abbey of Garsten, Roman Rauscher, 1642-83, thaler of 1679. On his 50th priestly jubilee, dedicated by the city and the mining union of Steyerer Iron Works. Very rare, Beautiful condition with magnificent patina, Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

The abbey of Garsten is in Styria. This is the only issue listed in the SCWC.
