Sincona sale 90, lot 1733

This specimen was lot 1733 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$ including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Eggenberg, Herzogtum, Johann Christian, 1664-1710. 3 Kreuzer 1685, Krumau. Mit dem Münzmeisterzeichen P-H (Phillipp Ignatz Häckhl, Münzverwalter und Münzmeister in Krumau, 1677-1689). Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Austrian states, duchy of Eggenberg, John Christian, 1664-1710, three kreuzer of 1685, Krumau mint. Very fine-extremely fine.)"

This coin was minted in 1677 and 1685 for the obscure Austrian family of Eggenberg. This type is rare, like all the issues from this locale.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver or billon, this specimen 1.87 g.

Catalog reference: KM 52 (unlisted date), Meyer 94, Pavlicek/Schön 66.
