This specimen was lot 70571 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $60. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Nordlingen. Batzen, 1516. Eberhard von Eppstein-Königstein (1503-35). PCGS VERY FINE-20 Secure Holder. Obverse: crowned bust of Maximilian holding orb and scepter; reverse: conjoined arms, date in Roman numerals above. Nordlingen was an imperial free city in Swabia, now in Bavaria. The mayor, a relative of the archbishop of Mainz, issued these batzen during the reigns of Maximilian and Charles V (one thaler = 40 batzen). Toned, From the Trebuchet Collection." The batzen is a denomination, worth four kreuzer, better known in Switzerland.
