This specimen was issued by Iran as part of the F.A.O. series. This type was issued in 1976-77 only. One of the shah's acts that enraged his many enemies was to place his portrait on the coinage, a sacrilege according to strictest Islam. The shah was deposed three years after this coin was issued.

Recorded mintage: 10,000,000.

Specification: 8.92 g, copper-nickel, 31.2 mm diameter.
