Netherlands 2000 cent

from the Mountain Groan Collection

This type was struck 1999-2013 for the Netherlands as part of the transition to the euro. When Willem Alexander succeeded Beatrix in 2014, the coinage was redesigned to feature his portrait (see KM 344 for the one cent piece). As Netherlands goes cashless, fewer coins are needed and WIllem's coinage is much more modest in quantity than his mother's.

Recorded mintage: 276,868,000 plus 16,500 proofs.

Specification: 2.3 g, copper-plated steel, 16.25 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: KM-234.
