This specimen was lot 46023 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 2 Pence (Turner), ND (1642-50). Edinburgh Mint; mm: lozenge. Charles I. NGC VF Details--Environmental Damage. Evenly granular with good definition to the central elements. Toned in rich chocolate brown color with darker patina in the protected areas. From the Loch Ness Collection." This type was worth a little less than an English farthing and was struck for Charles I while he was busy losing the Civil War. The denomination comes in many types (KM 37, 41, 61, 65, 66, 67, 68, KM 100, 114, 130, 137, 138) and was last struck in 1697.
