This specimen was lot 1634 in Sincona sale 76 (Zurich, May 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWEDEN. Oscar II. 1872-1907. 1 Krona 1881, Stockholm. Mit den Signaturen EB und LA (Emil Brusewitz, Münzmeister in Stückholm, 1876-1908, und Lea Ahlborn, Stempelschneiderin in Stockholm, 1854-1897). Gutes vorzüglich. NGC AU Details. Patina. Gereinigt. (kingdom of Sweden, Oscar II, 1872-1907, krona of 1881 with mintmaster's initials "EB" and engraver's initials "LA". Good extremely fine, Toned, Cleaned.)"
Collecting Swedish coins is complicated by the multiple currency reforms the country underwent during the nineteenth century. In 1873, the riksdaler species was dropped and 100 öre = 1 krona (the krona, at 7.5 g, 0.800 fine silver, was slightly smaller than the old riksdaler riksmynt). The type is noted for 1877-89. This date is common in worn condition but scarce nice. The system adopted in 1873 is still in use today, the Swedes having recently declined to adopt the euro.
