Sincona sale 80, lot 3234

This specimen was lot 3234 in Sincona sale 80 (Zurich, October 2022), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$120 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWEDEN, Karl XIV. Johann, 1818-1844. 1/4 Skilling 1833, Stockholm. Stempel in der Jahreszahl aus 1832 geändert. NGC MS65 RB. (kingdom of Sweden, Charles XIV John, 1818-44. quarter skilling of 1833, Stockholm mint, 1833/2 overdate. Gem uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1832-33 only. All the known specimens for this year are the overdate shown here. Altho it has a lower mintage than the 1832, the 1833/2 is priced lower in the SCWC. This was the last time this denomination was issued.

Recorded mintage: 96,000.

Specification: 4.30 g, copper, 21.3 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Delzanno 131. AAH 134.
