Sincona sale 73, lot 1538

This specimen was lot 1538 in Sincona sale 73 (Zurich, November 2021), where it sold for 28,000 CHF (about US$36,025 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"COLOMBIA. Felipe V. 1700-1746. 8 Escudos 1743 S, Santa Fe (Nuevo Reino). Assayer: Sebastian de Rivera. Wappen zwischen S/F - F/S. Von grösster Seltenheit, vermutlich das zweite bekannte Exemplar. NGC AU58. Überdurchschnittlich gut ausgeprägt. (Colombia, Philip V, 1700-46, eight escudos of 1743, Santa Fe mint. Of the highest rarity, possibly the second known specimen, graded NGC AU58, Extraordinarily well struck.)"
