Australia 2000 25 dollars KM-466

Sincona sale 54, lot 48

In 1966, Australia abandoned the sterling coinage she had used since the days of Captain Cook and adopted the decimal dollar and cent. This specimen was lot 48 in Sincona sale 54 (Zurich, May 2019), where it sold for 375 CHF (about US$446 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Elizabeth II. 1952-. 25 Dollars 2000, Perth. 1/4 Unze geprägt zur Münzenbörse Basel. Selten. Nur 500 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. FDC. In Originalschachtel. (Australia, Elizabeth II, 1952-, twenty-five dollars of 2000, Perth mint, quarter ounce struck for the Basel Coin Show. Rare. Only 500 pieces struck, Choice Proof, In original box.)"

Another one of the innumerable NCLT's pouring out of the Perth mint.
